This guy been trying to go out with me.He not that good looking. Is it bad if I ask him to do something?

This guy Been trying to go out with me. But I keep saying no well I has an excuse last time cause my family was in a wrack. So I had to take care of them for months. whick way not a lie. But I thought maybe this week he was over me I mean its been a year. So text him and was ask how he has been well it went on then he ask me if I had a boyfriend. I said no not really. cause (I like this guy we talk almost every night but he never wants to do anything. So I have to say that is not going anywhere.) But he bacis said that i never gave him a change then some how he ask me to go out I said ok. But I havn't heard from him. He not that good looking but my sister said he is. My family want me go they think that i will like him but they don't know him. I hardly ever give any guy a chance cause everytime i do then next thing I kow they are dating someone else and yet still talking to me. That why i don't give any guy a chance. I tried talkin to him on facebook but he didn't ever answer me Is it bad that if ask him to do something?
