BACKSEAT RIDERS ILLEGAL?!?! (3000gt)?

i have always known that the 3000gt offers really small back seats. i recently read an article that said backseat passengers, in this car, was outlawed by the 8th amendment. i didnt know wether or not it was a joke about the size of the seats or if they were telling the truth. if it is illegal, what staes is it illegal in?
