How do you have fun at Disneyworld?

I have a vacation scheduled to Disneyworld which my girlfriend planned. It was an ill-conceived idea, but there's not stopping it now . I need some tips of having fun there since I am dreading it terribly. ive neer been to Florida and I grew up in a household where that kind of extravagance was simply outlawed. i kind of feel like i would rather go to Orlando and just sit in a bar. If anyone has been through this before, please share your wisdom.
