Advice on driving for beginner?

I got my permit about 2 weeks ago and start drivers ed classes in 2 weeks. So far, I have had 2 one hour behind-the-wheel road lessons. I had trouble accelerating the first day and turning but not hard at all. I know how to do 3 point turns and did parallel parking once. On my second day, we went into a lot of neighborhoods and kept turning A LOT. I hate turning.. I either go to fast/wide or too slow and end up stopping once I enter the new road... I can't seem to be fast enough straightening out my wheel. That's my main problem. I'm okay with maintaining my speed but it's a little nerve wracking with my instructor, even though he's funny. He kind of talks a lot but whatever. Sometimes I feel like I'm day dreaming or not thinking while driving but I'm aware of what I'm doing - does that happen to you? I'm a lot better with the gas pedals and breaks and I know I need practice but any advice or tips on turning?
